Catch, Party, Battle with the Pokémon GO 2022 World Championships Celebration

Embrace the spirit of battle with Elite TMs, Legacy attacks, and even more inspiration to battle.
It’s been more than six years since Pokémon GO launched, and at long last, a Pokémon GO World Champion will be crowned during the 2022 Pokémon World Championships in London. Pokémon GO players can watch the momentous occasion on the Pokémon GO Twitch channel and take part in the fun with the World Championships celebration in Pokémon GO. From August 18 at 10 a.m. local time to August 23 at 8 p.m. local time World Championships 2022 Pikachu makes its Pokémon GO debut, Trainers earn triple Stardust from GO Battle League victories, and event Pokémon that can be evolved into Pokémon with special Fast Attacks and Charged Attacks will be appearing in the wild.
Draw inspiration from the world’s best Pokémon GO players with Pokémon teams inspired by teams used by Pokémon GO Regional Champions appearing at PokéStops. With that triple Stardust bonus for winning battles and Victory Road-inspired music playing during Trainer Battles, there’s plenty of motivation to battle and win. And if Trainers happen to have Pokémon that need a new Fast Attack or Charged Attack that requires an Elite TM, complete the Timed Research to win valuable rewards including an Elite Fast TM and Elite Charged TM.
Many of the Pokémon appearing in the wild during this event are popular in their evolved form within GO Battle League so make a point of catching as many Nidoran♀, Mankey, Machop, Mudkip, Meditite, Sableye, Swablu, Spheal, Croagunk, Dewpider, Scraggy, and Galarian Stunfisk as possible. Pokémon appearing as Field Research task encounters include Bulbasaur, Gastly, Rhyhorn, Magikarp, Chikorita, Galarian Zigzagoon, Beldum, and Fletchling. All of these Pokémon are popular choices within the GO Battle League meta, and catching as many as possible to earn extra Candy is an excellent use of your resources and time.
The following Pokémon will be appearing in raids throughout the event:
One-Star Raids
  • Galarian Farfetch’d
  • Marill
  • Barboach
  • Timburr
  • Costumed Pikachu
  • Scraggy

Battling with the right Pokémon is important, but choosing the best attacks for each Pokémon is just as essential. Access some powerful attacks by evolving certain Pokémon during the event to get a Pokémon that knows a specific Fast Attack or Charged Attack usually only available with the use of an Elite TM.
Evolve the following Pokémon for special attacks:
  • Rhydon for a Rhyperior that knows the Charged Attack Rock Wrecker
  • Haunter for a Gengar that knows the Charged Attack Shadow Punch
  • Magikarp for a Gyarados that knows the Charged Attack Aqua Tail
  • Metang for a Metagross that knows the Charged Attack Meteor Mash
